Scapes Photography:

There are several types of scape photography, mainly Landscape Photography and it is usually the beginner's type of photography. You capture natural locations and known geographical locations and landmarks.

The main ones are: Landscapes, City Scapes and Sea Scapes.

The gear you need to get a sharp and balanced exposure and the technique knowledge. You will need a reasonable DSLR camera, a wide angle lens, a steady tripod, a remote shutter and filters.

The wide angle lens would need to have a focal length from about 16 to 35 and if you want to use only part of the scene a 70 to 200 lens will do the job.

The tripod needs to hold the total weight of the camera and lens, it needs to be solid.

The remote shutter button or cable release is used to reduce camera shake.

The Filters are mainly used during the day to offset harsh exposure, a ND or aND graduated or a Polarizer filter.

Camera Settings, Focal Length around F8, Shutter Speed around 1 sec, metering mode Matrix (nikon), Evaluative (canon), Single Point Focus Mode and your lowest ISO.

The shutter speed can be adjusted if you expose for weter motion, the lower the smoother, and if you cannot get a lower shutter speed for smooth water then you need to use a ND filter (neutral density).

Street Photography:

It is a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place. It also enables you to take candid pictures of strangers, often without their knowledge. You need to have a social purpose in mind as in the picture you take needs to tell a story, so you isolate and capture people's emotions and gestures thus recording moments in time.

You need to carefully plan this event. First determine the purpose of the shoot, find the location and patiently wait for the moment.

The recommended lens to use is 24-70 f/2.8 , depending on your budget as well you can use a 50ml f/1.4 or 50ml f/1.8.

They are fast lenses meaning you can freeze the motion.

Camera Settings, Shutter Speed no less than 160/sec, metering mode Spot Metering, Focus Mode Single Spot and set your ISO to auto.

Portrait Photography:

Portrait photography is about trying to capture the personality, identity, soul, emotions and poses of a person with a background that has atmosphere and lighting. It could be artistic or formal.

Studio Photography wether formal or informal is conducted indoors or in a studio for professional photography.

Sports photography refers to the genre of photography that covers all types of sports. You will need to really grasp your knowledge of your camera use. You will need to arrive earlier at the scene to scout the best location to shoot from and practice shots to get the approximate camera settings required for your exposure get to know the action timeline of the event.

Camera Settings: Continuous burst mode, Activate all your focal points and shoot in JPeg , set your camera to Aperture Priority, set the shutter speed to no less than 1/1000s.
